
Arvada Associated Modelers Flying Site Rules
1.
A current
AMA license or faxed confirmation of AMA shall be in possession of any pilot
while flying at the field. Guests
are to check in with a club officer, instructor or the safety officer.
If no designated officer is present, any member present may serve to
check AMA membership and to acquaint the guest with the field rules and safety
protocol. All AMA safety RULES
apply at this facility. These rules
are to be posted at both the east and west fields.
2.
Each
pilot must use the club authorized magnetic frequency pin.
Guests must use a guest pin with their current AMA license inserted.
3.
All
Transmitters shall be switched off prior to arrival at the field and will be
placed on an impound board immediately upon arrival. They shall NOT be switched on, or used in any way
until the frequency is clear, the user’s pin is placed in the “flying
position” on the frequency board, and a green “OK to fly light” is
illuminated. When not in use, all
transmitters will be switched off and placed on the impound board and the
frequency pin is to be placed at the bottom of the respective frequency
position. When waiting for use of the frequency, pins should be placed on the
waiting to fly position, which will illuminate the yellow wait light. No
transmitter shall be removed from the impound board until a frequency pin is
placed on the respective frequency position and the green light is illuminated.
4.
Transmitter
frequencies shall be as recommended by AMA in the current AMA membership manual,
and/or as regulated by AAM. Each
transmitter must be equipped with the accepted frequency identification.
5.
All
engines at the east field are to be started in designated areas. NO
START-UP OR RUN-UP IN THE PITS WILL BE TOLERATED.
6.
It is
highly recommended that ALL pilots use a second person as a spotter.
7.
Engines
started at the west field may be started in the pit area, however the engine
must be kept at a low throttle setting until outside the pit safety fence.
8.
All
entries to the runway, take-off, landings, student approaches, touch and goes,
and low flybys will be loudly announced to all pilots on the flight line, and
acknowledgement received before proceeding.
Dead stick landings or emergencies have priority and must be declared
immediately.
9.
No pilot
should stand on the runway except for take-off. Immediately after take off, pilot is to proceed to the
designated pilot areas, standing in the safety barriers.
Keep the runways and taxiways clear, and do not make engine or other
adjustments while on the runway. All
such adjustments are to be made in the starting area and directed away from the
pits and flight stations prior to entering the runway.
10.
All
take-off and landings will be made in the direction of the wind, or its closest
vectoring component and this will be the active direction.
First turn is to be made away from the flight line to the north.
11.
A maximum
of six models flying at one time with all pilots using pilot station for
protection.
12.
Do not
orient your aircraft in a sustained flight towards the pits and or spectator
area. All flying shall be in a
pattern away from spectators, cars, pits, roads and buildings in the area, 25
feet north of the northern edge of the east runway and 50 ft north of the west
runway. All flying to be kept less
than 400 ft in altitude.
13.
Helicopter
taxing is prohibited; helicopters must be carried to the designated helicopter
pads.
14.
There
shall be a maximum time limit of 15 minutes per use of a frequency, including
engine starting and tuning. All
flights to be taken in the order of pin unless cleared with all pilots.
15.
Students
will only fly with an instructor until they have completed their training, and
been approved and signed off for solo flight.
16.
Spectators
are not allowed in the pit area or on the flight line unless accompanied by a
club member.
17.
Special
control must be maintained over small children and pets must be kept on a leash.
18.
All
Engine break-in and test running is to be carried out in the designated engine
test area, with a frequency pin up if radio is in use. A 15-minute time limit
still applies.
19.
No flying
is permitted before 8:00 a.m. or 30 minutes past sundown.
20.
It is
suggested to restrict engine noise to 97-dB max (B scale) at 3 meters.
21.
The use
of illegal drugs is not permitted and will not be tolerated at this facility.
Alcoholic beverages are not allowed on this property and shall not be
consumed prior to any model operations.
22.
All AMA
certified guest pilots are required to become an AAM member after 4 guest visits
or 30 days after their first visit unless the Board grants a special wavier.
23.
Any
member or guest causing damage to another by infraction of these rules, or by
inattention or incompetence is responsible for making good such damage, as far
as is possible.
24.
All
members are responsible for keeping the facility clean and tidy.
25.
There
shall be no harassment of wildlife in the air or ground by any member, visitors
or their pets.
26.
These
Rules are to be strictly enforced by the club, its members, the safety officer
and all of the club officers.
1.
All
general field rules are in effect and must be followed.
2.
Helicopters
using the east field runway must fly in the established traffic pattern.
3.
Sustained
hovering on the east field runway is not allowed when fixed wing aircraft are
flying.
4.
At the
west field, the helicopter hover pads located directly east and west of the pit
areas are for hovering and slow maneuvering only. Helicopter pilots may stand to
any side of these hover pads. FORWARD FLIGHT IS NOT ALLOWED IN THIS AREA. A
maximum altitude of 25 feet is allowed at these pads.
5.
Helicopter
hovering and forward flight is allowed on the west runway.
In the event the runway is being shared with fixed wing aircraft, all
pilots must remain in communication to announce their intentions.
6. At the west field, all 3-D type maneuvers are to be performed to the north of the natural surface runway. This is a MINIMUM of 50 feet to the north of the helicopter landing pads.
